Wave 2 is very disturbing, as it is a giant tsunami. The main heroine is shot in the leg, and a wound filled with blood is shown in the next scene. There is lots of gun violence, especially near the start. I didn't really mind the subplot as the children become soldiers, but the final "5th Wave" showdown is more video-game nonsense than a film. There was no humour that made their relationship seem like a real teenage love affair. Evan and Cassie's relationship is- I don't know any other way to put it- disgusting and forced. I enjoyed the mystery from the novel, but the film basically gives the plot twists away in the first ten minutes of the film. This gripping book-based tale had me expecting a terrific, action-packed and somewhat humorous thrill ride, like the book.
